Giancarlo Marzorati, is an architect from Sesto San Giovanni, the city where he now lives and works. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1974, and after
a period working with
a building firm from his home town, he chose to work freelance.
He has worked with studios
in Milan and throughout this city’s metropolitan and provincial area, especially Sesto San Giovanni itself. This latter city has seen a widespread reconversion of the old, large industrial areas and has become an important centre for
advanced service industries.
Marzorati has been involved
in this development by designing the large office complexes for this sector which today house major companies such as Impregilo, Oracle, Novell, ABB, Alitalia,
as well as INAIL the Italian government agency for
the insurance against
work-related injuries), all of which have chosen Sesto San Giovanni for their headquarters thanks to its strategic position near both near Milan and at an essential crossroads for infrastructures. Marzorati’s versatility and flexibility have
led him to take on a variety of projects, such as shopping malls, residential complexes, cinemas and auditoriums. For several years his focus has been concentrated particularly
on auditorium projects, working both within and outside the Lombardy region.
These projects allow him
to express his personality
as a designer that pays close attention to the form of buildings within their urban context, while also achieving optimum functionality. He has taken part in a number of competitions working with other architects
and also collaborates with many specialists in a variety of sectors such as acoustics, engineering and urban planning.
